On March 7th, 1938 the articles of Incorporation were filed with the State of Utah for Midwest Furniture Sales, Inc. under its three partners of Morris Parrish, Lance Graham and Ben Novikoff . Their business began as a distributor of a few rolls of carpet operating out of a small vacant building at 180 West 200 South in Salt Lake City which later became The Salt Palace and home of the Utah Jazz.
April 17th, 1952 Midwest Furniture Sales, Inc becomes Midwest Floor Coverings, Inc and focuses its distribution model around Gulistan Carpet, Mohawk, and General Felt Products throughout the Wasatch Area.
January 2nd 1957 Morris Parrish purchases the majority of stock and becomes sole owner of Midwest.
In 1965 Morris and Beth Parrish bet on the future and buy land in Wagner Park at the heart Interstate 15 and 80 with a 35,000 square foot warehouse and office facilities. Morris is known for being a great partner to do business with and for taking care of his people. His putter win’s him a buck and a buck is a big deal.
1969 Morris’s son, John enters Midwest as a salesman. His first territory is to open the Boise, Idaho Branch. In 1980, John Parrish takes over as President of the company. John brought the idea of “Diversify or Die” and in 1981 adds Wilsonart International to the product offering. This move changed the landscape for Midwest and its role in Distribution. In 1997 John makes another major decision and partners with an Independent Manufacturer by the name of Mannington Mills. This move creates a partnership that will last for generations. Under his leadership the company has experienced a steady growth and expansion of products and territory
In 2003 John’s son, Eric began working at Midwest as a Territory Salesman. After 8 different positions and 15 years in the company Eric sits as President of Midwest and uses his father’s sound advice “you have two ears and one mouth” in the competitive world of Distribution.
Midwest made a radical change in 2014 as it began to Manufacture Cabinets and Components for the market.
